Join us for another FREE Community Art Day!
Come get creative on Saturday, October 25th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Dakota Art Museum! (1036 Medary Ave., Brookings) with Sioux Falls artist Mary Payton!
For the first time, Community Art Day will look to the gallery walls for direct inspiration—amplifying the synergy between viewing and making art.
Artist Mary Payton will guide participants in creating Expressive Stenciled Portraits, drawing on the bold colors and brushwork of two artworks currently on display:
- "Nurse Elsa" by Richard Prince, a haunting and ambiguous reimagining of a dime-store novel cover
- "Duel" by Albert Bloch, a vibrant, expressive work tied to the early 20th-century modernist group Der Blaue Reiter
Come explore color, gesture, and emotion while making your own piece to take home! All supplies provided. No registration needed—just drop in
